This role will deliver consultative expertise and conduct complex analyses to effectively support and resolve compensation needs of the organization and/or assigned departments. This role will liaise with all levels of management within the university in order to address compensation concerns. Assists Compensation Manager with ensuring effectiveness of compensation policies, guidelines and programs to support the retention, attraction and motivation of employees. Will act as lead and be a resource to Compensation team members. Manages team during absence of Compensation Manager.
Act as a strategic consultant providing advice and guidance to management by developing effective solutions pertaining to compensation issues; partners with Human Resources Business Partners to provide direction on compensation matters. Conduct job evaluation for new and existing jobs using market data and internal evaluations; performs analysis to determine appropriate salary level to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness. Respond to complex ad-hoc requests from clients and prepare analyses to develop recommendation to support clients' needs. Perform in-depth analysis on effectiveness and competitiveness of existing compensation programs and model potential impact of alternatives. Audit and analyze internal compensation practices in relation to relevant regulations; develop recommendations for corrective actions as needed; provide compliance consultation to HR and to assigned business clients. Lead or assist with various projects (e.g., developing and updating the salary plan and salary structure in response to changing organizational needs and market values, developing a standardized market-pricing process, drafting communications to provide information regarding compensation initiatives, etc.) Perform other duties assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Human Resources or related field plus a minimum of eight (8) years of compensation experience; or an equivalent experience. Advanced Excel skills (i.e., Vlook-up, pivot tables, IF/AND statements, etc.); proficient using Word and PowerPoint.
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP). Work experience in Higher Education is a plus.
