The HPCL Senior Clinical Laboratory Scientist Specialist (SCLSS) collaborates with the Bone Marrow Transplant Nurse Manager and Medical Director of the Bone Marrow Transplant Program to support the excellence and functioning of the BMT Program as a whole. The HPCL SCLSS interacts with the multidisciplinary clinical team, including, BMT RN Coordinators, Data analysts, interact with Davis 8 BMTU Nurse Manager and staff, the Apheresis Nurse Manager and staff, physicians and nurse practitioners to assure clinical excellence and smooth coordination of patient care.The HPCL SCLSS oversees quality and operations of the (HPC) Lab and performs and assists with complex procedures such as HPC processing, cryopreservation, thawing, and infusion, according to approved clinical procedures.REQUIRED-California State issued Clinical Laboratory Scientist license, (current and renewed every two years as required).-Technical knowledge of regulatory requirements for the collection, processing, storage and transport processes for hematopoietic stem cells as necessary for the supervision of this specialty laboratory section.-Effective written and oral communication skills including the ability to lead discussions and presentations and write clear technical and quality reports. Utilizes effective listening techniques.-Knowledge of safety policies and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions, including Department and UCDH Infection Control and Standard Precautions procedures.-Knowledge of Hospital and Laboratory Information System (LIS), EMR, hospital Incident Report System (RL Solutions), email, Microsoft Office and data management software.-Excellent data collection, data analysis/interpretation, and presentation skills. -Excellent problem solving skills and utilizes resources effectively for resolution.PREFERRED-Minimum of five (5) years of clinical laboratory science experience in Stem Cell processing in a clinical setting.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT-Must be able to work variable shifts and be "On Call" as needed. Shifts include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. -Be able to work overtime as necessary within the UC Davis Health System Policies and Procedures. -THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
