Has responsibility for the clinical leadership within the region. This executive provides the direction and support required to affect high quality patient outcomes. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Regional CNO works closely with the CEO and CMO to guide clinical services in acute care and ambulatory settings with a focus on achieving healthcare excellence.
WHAT IS EXPECTED (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Identifies and articulates the vision and strategic direction for the development of high-quality nursing care consistent with the BSW mission, vision and values
Creates a healthy work environment that is professional, respectful, and collaborative
Applies the American Nurses' Credentialing Center Magnet domains and sources of evidence as the framework that drives excellence in nursing and patient care outcomes.
Responsible for the practice of nursing and ensuring consistency in the standard of practice across clinical settings
Provides strategic leadership as the patient care executive responsible for all nursing and other designated patient care functions / services within the region.
Assures implementation of System-wide and regional strategic initiatives
Participates in regional l strategic planning and collaborates with the management team and the medical staff to develop the overall financial plan for the region
Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with physicians, interprofessional colleagues, community organizations, and other organizations in order to gather and exchange information and to determine innovative ways to develop and ensure the achievement of strategic goals and objectives.
Leads quality and patient safety efforts
Provides leadership and direction in the development of strategies to promote the recruitment, retention and recognition of excellence in Nursing including succession planning and oversight and recommendations regarding compensation and benefit programs for nursing staff
Assumes accountability for identifying problems and issues, generating solutions and anticipating the effects of those decisions
In conjunction with regional leadership groups, develops and implements quality and utilization standards for patient care services to ensure coordinated plans of treatment and delivery of services that meet member's needs, and the most cost-effective and efficient levels of patient care clinically and operationally
Implements a performance improvement program for patient care services, including planning, setting priorities, conducting systematic performance assessments, implementing improvements based on such assessments, and maintaining achieved improvements.
Drives continuous quality improvement, discovery and innovation through research and use of best, evidence-based practices.
Provides leadership and direction for clinical programs and services, assuring the appropriate resources for the delivery of clinical care in the ambulatory and acute care settings
Participates in setting and achieving operational and financial goals for the facility
Assures nursing services provided meet standards and requirements of TJC and all other applicable regulatory bodies
Creates an organizational culture that provides a safe and enriching environment for patients and employees
Serves on the BSW Nursing Executive Council with CNOs from other BSW facilities, leading the pursuit of nursing excellence System-wide
Facilitates, directs and coordinates l activities and programs relative to daily operations in acute care and ambulatory settings through the delivery of cost effective and quality services
Manages the operating and capital budgets for areas of responsibility. Aggressively mitigates all variances to budget. Makes sound decisions on best use of resources in support of priorities and strategies
Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility?? by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licensure requirements (if applicable), and policies and procedures
