The charge/educator is a registered professional nurse who participates as an active member of the Nursing Team on the assigned unit/department. The charge/educator nurse assumes responsibility for coordinating safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective nursing care for patients on the assigned unit/department. Principle responsibilities include participating in strategic planning, service delivery, program development, evaluation and implementation, budget and resource management, cost control, contract compliance and quality improvement. In addition, the charge/educator nurse supports patient safety initiatives and quality improvement activities.
The charge/educator nurse plans, coordinates and carries out educational programs to instruct, provides comprehensive education in compliance with Standards of Care and Standards of Practice. Create, manage and instruct a new critical care emergency nursing orientation program based on the Emergency Nurses Association standards of Emergency Nursing Core Curriculum or other evidence based educational training benchmark. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over
life span and possesses ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret appropriate information needed to identify patient requirements relative to his/her age specific needs. Consults with Managers to identify learning needs of Staff and seeks input from staff to identify their learning needs. Develops effective written teaching materials such as outlines, lesson plans, handouts and evaluation tools. Informs staff through distribution or posting of outside seminars, workshops and lectures.
The charge/educator maintains current competency with nursing skills required for the assigned unit/department, and demonstrates knowledge regarding Standards of Care and Standards of Practice in the assigned area. The charge/educator will assess and develop specific pediatric educational plan/trauma educational plan to implement in the Emergency Department.
The charge/educator remains calm in crisis and emergency situations, and directs staff members effectively and appropriately. The charge/educator nurse maintains professional and effective working relationships with all members of the Health Care Team. The charge/educator nurse demonstrates judgment, discretion, diplomacy and a working knowledge of Hospital and Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and Policies and Procedures.
The charge/educator is a role model for staff and other departments. The charge nurse demonstrates customer service excellence in relationships with patients, families, physicians and employees. The charge/educator assists in recruitment and selection of staff. The charge/educator assists and supports in orientation, evaluation and retention of staff. The charge/educator performs annual performance reviews and assists staff in completion of their goals and development plan.

Position: RN Charge CC/Educator Full Time Days
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or equivalent
Minimum of 4 years Critical Care Experience or ED Experience (preferred)
Competent in caring for both Adults and Pediatrics
Previous experience as Relief Charge (preferred)
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada
