The Director of Economic Development is responsible for setting the strategic direction, organization and implementation of economic development functions that support financial, entrepreneurship, and workforce development services and programs. Duties include but are not limited to: develops, implements and administers economic plans, programs and objectives for the Pueblo focused on job creation, broadening the Pueblo’s revenue and expanding existing businesses; responsible for oversight of business recruitment, retention, and expansion; develops and implements economic policy and infrastructure to create capable institutions that support sustainable economic development; interfaces and coordinates with the development community, local businesses and various tribal departments and staff; serves as a resource for the YDSP tribal community, including the development community, property owners, businesses, community organizations, and the general public; conducts research on local business activity and potential start-up operations; evaluates the fiscal and economic benefits of potential projects; coordinates comprehensive asset development programs and services such as financial empowerment course offerings, credit building, and tax preparation services aimed at improving financial security for the tribal community; conducts research to identify emerging needs, trends, and services related to economic development; produces statistical reports, information, and plans in connection with economic development projects and initiatives; monitors performance of Pueblo business incubator program, evaluating and enhancing incubator structure as needed; develops marketing strategies and materials with emphasis on community outreach for enhanced economic development program participation; prepares, reviews and revises the Pueblo’s comprehensive economic development strategy; maintains economic/business development research on private held businesses, unemployment levels and income levels; conducts advisory services and executive education to promote and foster strong community, economic and business development decision making; develops, implements, and maintains entrepreneurial development services; provides technical assistance for business development to support tribal entrepreneurs and tribal owned enterprises and corporations; other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree in economic development, business, public administration or related field; 5-7 years of proven experience in economic development or planning related activities preferably in government and 3-5 years professional level supervisory experience in related field; must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and be insurable; must be able to successfully pass a post-offer drug screen and criminal history background investigation.
