This position is responsible for technical duties required in the design and preparation of work orders, service orders, service requests, easements and agreements associated with line extensions and maintenance of the transmission and distribution system; the application of company policies, standards, state and national electrical codes, and joint use agreements.
Reports to Engineering Supervisor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitates the interpretation and application of policies, standards, and codes: Makes judgments necessary in the application of safety and construction standards, applicable state and national electrical safety codes, Lane Electric rules and regulations and line extension policy. Responsible for personal safety as well as taking an active role in Lane Electric’s safety program and adhering to all safety rules.
Construction estimating: Prepares drawings, cost estimates, material lists, and all necessary forms and agreements for member line extensions, maintenance and/or rearrangement of electrical facilities, distribution and transmission systems as required. Obtains right-of-way easements and permits as necessary. Assist management in development of annual work plan and the associated budget as requested.
Field staking, surveying, inspections, and scheduling: Performs field staking for construction of electrical facilities, field inspections to determine adherence to standards and for “as-built” records. Reviews member load information and inspects service entrance equipment. Assists in design and staking major improvement projects and fuse coordination application. Facilitates field surveying as required to prepare easement documents.
Extensive public contact: Develops and maintains positive contacts with the public; responds to inquiries; investigates and resolves member concerns. Works closely with Cooperative employees, outside contractors, and engineers, and other utilities to facilitate completion of projects and effective long-term relationships. Possesses good oral and written communication skills.
Accountability: Performs all work in a dependable, confidential and professional manner. Maintains knowledge and capabilities consistent with current industry trends and technology. Demonstrates project and corporate leadership. Learns, accepts, and adapts to planned and unplanned changes in work processes and work flow in a proactive and positive manner. Able to initiate and complete projects with minimal supervision; demonstrates organizational skills and ability to set and follow priorities. Exhibits promptness and punctuality in reporting for work appointments, deadlines, assignments, and productivity.
Flexibility: Assists purchasing, dispatch, accounting, data management, member service, and management as requested.
Performs other duties and special assignments as required.
Three (3) years of experience with distribution line design, using Rural Electric Administration and National Electric Safety Code design criteria.
Three (3) years of experience with an electrical utility’s line extension, policies, principles, construction and customer specifications. Education and work experience may substitute.
Knowledge and experience working with a staking and/or mapping program.
Must possess a valid Oregon State driver’s license or obtain within 6 months of employment.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
