LPEA is headquartered in the city of Durango in southwest Colorado, a region that prides itself on its independent, self-sufficient, can-do spirit. The service territory includes the resort cities of Durango and Pagosa Springs, other smaller towns and villages, and the large rural area that accounts for most of the geographic coverage area.
La Plata Electric Association, LPEA, is the 5th largest electric cooperative in Colorado, distributing power to customers located in a 3,370 square mile service territory stretching across La Plata and Archuleta counties, together with portions of Hinsdale, Mineral and San Juan counties. LPEA maintains 3,714 miles of energized distribution and transmission line, 30 substations, and provides service to nearly 43,000 meters. The company has a staff of approximately 105 highly qualified and highly engaged employees, many represented by local IBEW 111 26A.
LPEA also owns a subsidiary business, FastTrack Communications, Inc, providing high speed internet service over a fiber optic network, including data transport, VDSL2, MPLS, voice, hosted voice, bundle solutions (voice and internet) and additional customized telecom solutions.
