Summary: This is a full-time faculty appointment for the 2019-20 academic year. The classroom teachers at the grade level work together as a team, planning together and often co-teaching.
Responsibilities: - Successfully implement the grade level curriculum. - Collaborate with the grade level teaching partner to coordinate the learning experiences of the classrooms. - Provide a variety of learning opportunities, methods, and materials, which support the diversity of abilities within the classroom. - Foster the students' growth of moral character. - Impart enthusiasm for learning to students and inspire students to participate fully in the learning process. - Provide and maintain a stimulating, safe classroom environment. - Practice thoughtful, respectful, and effective classroom management techniques, which support active learning and promote responsibility and self-management. - Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress. - Provide strategic interventions for students not meeting academic benchmarks. - Collaborate effectively with parents and regularly inform them of student progress. - Support positive student behavior for all Lower School students throughout the school day. - Attend all faculty and community meetings. - Represent Charles Wright Academy in a positive manner with all constituencies. - Participate fully in the life of the school.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have earned a bachelor’s degree; a master’s degree in elementary education is preferred. The candidate’s experience should show evidence of successful teaching using dynamic and flexible pedagogical techniques. Essential elements for the position include a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, cultural competency, the ability to inspire children, the capacity to work cooperatively with peers, and a joyful sense of humor. Familiarity with Google G-Suite for education. Skilled in Microsoft Office suite of applications and web-based software. Experience with Veracross preferred.
