Posting Salary: PSS Grade 22--$60,200 to $91,600 (Minimum to Midpoint)
Position Summary: UC Systemwide Procurement Services manages a portfolio of systems ( eProcurement, CalUsource, Benefit Bank and Pipeline Management). The communications specialist is responsible to execute a comprehensive communications and training program to support the development, implementation and adoption of CalUsource and potentially, other systems. Working with colleagues, lead the work efforts to develop stakeholder engagement plans; document communication and training plans; develop technical documentation, user guides, training webinars, newsletters, and other training/communication materials; and, publish/implement. Participate in the development of, and keep aligned with, broader department-wide communication and training strategies/standards.
This role will report to the PMO Director but work very closely with the Communications and Training Manager and Technology Product Managers. The desired candidate will be an enthusiastic, fast learner with experience taking complex ideas and writing about them in a way that makes them relatable to a variety of audiences.

Duty 1: Develop training and technical documentation to support learning needs. Training content may include presentation material, quick reference guides, on-line help, FAQs and video. Technical documentation will include the creation and publication of step-by-step instructions with screen shots; user guides, release notes, and training videos Function:1 Percent: 50
Duty 2: Produce a variety of communication pieces in a variety of venues including newsletters; reports; web-pages; blogs; presentations; and others. Ensure production of high quality products that effectively deliver the desired message within budget and time constraints. Duty 3: Work with management, project teams, and other stakeholders to create, develop, and implement strategic communication and training plans that support change management. Function:3 Percent: 15
Duty 4: Work with technology managers to identify opportunities for, and leverage communications and training to ensure, continuous improvement. Function:4 Percent: 10
Job Requirements Excellent writer with strong attention to detail.
Experience developing training content.
Strong project management skills with focus on organizing work to achieve deadlines.
Solid skills to create, develop, and implement strategic training & communications plans.
Experience writing technical documentation and creating visually attractive and consistently formatted materials.
Strong verbal, interpersonal communications, analytic and critical thinking skills. Active listener with strong political acumen skills.
Experience identifying diverse audience (stakeholder) groups and developing messaging unique to those groups. Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and / or broad general audiences.
Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively record and edit video for training purposes. Camtasia preferred. Required
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Education or certification in change management, adult learning or internal marketing/communications. Preferred
