This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Administrative Program Assistant (Insurance) position for the Student Health Services Department at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Student Health Services (SHS) mission is to provide leadership for the health of the University community. This position contributes to the mission of SHS through teamwork and collaboration, participates in organizational committees, provides University outreach, and strives to contribute to the academic success of OSU students.
This position will be the first point of contact for Student Health Insurance members for the OSU sponsored insurance plans and completes a variety of administrative duties in support of the Student Health Insurance Office. They will serve students and staff/faculty in person, by telephone, via email and/or other written methods.
The position will help guide the enrollment and waiver processes of two OSU student health insurance plans administered by Pacific Source Health Plans by determining eligibility to participate, identifying cost to the consumer and assisting with evaluating best options available based on the individual's unique need. A high level of expertise is required to consider all pertinent factors at the time of enrollment.
Additionally, this position is responsible for auditing insurance data entered by clinical and reception staff at three locations to ensure accurate information and active eligibility. When necessary, this position will provide back up support for the Oregon Contraceptive Care insurance program, determine eligibility and need based on knowledge of state DHS rules and regulations.
The Student Health Insurance Office and this position are tasked with monitoring compliance with mandatory insurance enrollment requirements, as well as facilitating enrollment in insurance programs available to eligible OSU students.
Three years of office experience which included two years at full performance level and experience generating documents; and Lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures.
Experience working with medical/dental insurance including two years' experience with insurance accounts in a human healthcare environment or with a health insurance company.
Excellent customer service skills in face to face, telephone, and e-mail applications.
Experience that includes entering, compiling, reporting and auditing information/data to ensure regulatory compliance.
Progressively responsible experience in an office setting (preferred insurance and/or medical office).
Ability to explain, interpret, make recommendations regarding laws, rules, policies, procedures, programs and records.
Experience working with culturally diverse customer base or clientele.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including experience with Microsoft Excel.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position is deemed essential and the incumbent may be expected to report to work during inclement weather, emergency and other University work curtailments or closures.
