Mission: To develop well-rounded, evidence-based, pharmacist clinicians who are prepared to attain the following:
Direct patient care or PGY2 pharmacy resident positions
Adjunct clinical faculty or preceptor appointments
Board certification in pharmacotherapy
Pharmacists completing this residency program will be competent practitioners, skilled in evidenced-based, therapeutic medication management and direct patient care using an interdisciplinary team model. They will develop expertise in educating other healthcare professionals, students, patients, and the community on medication-related issues. Residents will gain confidence with drug literature evaluation, pharmacy research, and professional communication as well as leadership and pharmacy management. They will exhibit a profound commitment to the advancement of the pharmacy profession through continued self-monitoring and development of their own performance.
Billings Clinic is an educationally-focused, integrated health system that offers residents well-balanced experiences in direct patient care; advancing practice and improving patient care; leadership and management; teaching, education, and dissemination of knowledge; and the management of medical emergencies.
Core rotations: orientation, pharmacy practice, cardiology, critical care, infectious diseases, and internal medicine.
Other rotation options: ambulatory care, emergency medicine, neonatology, oncology, pediatrics, psychiatry, transitions of care, and electives.
Longitudinal experiences: academia, administration, drug information, medical emergencies, process improvement, research, and staffing.
To be appointed to the PGY1 program, applicants must:
Have a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or equivalent from an accredited college of pharmacy.
Be licensed or eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Montana.
Be enrolled with the ASHP Resident Matching Program. Billings Clinic’s National Matching Services Code: 157713.
Be a United States citizen. The program does not sponsor visas.
