Valley Electric Association, Inc., (VEA) is a member-owned electric cooperative based in Pahrump, Nevada, with a certified service area covering more than 6,800 square miles in Nevada and California. VEA presently provides service to over 24,000 services with 2,120 line miles of distribution facilities and 13 substations. VEA is a participating transmission owner and load serving entity in the California Independent System of Operators Corporation (CAISO).
VEA is the parent company to a host of wholly-owned subsidiaries, including Valley Electric Transmission Association (VETA), Valley Communication Association (VCA), Valley Electric Utility Services (VEUS), and Valley Electric Energy Services (VEES).
VCA (Valley Communications Association), is a wholly-owned subsidiary based in Pahrump, NV, and will offer commercial and residential optical fiber broadband service, with speeds up to 1 gigabit, to VEA members throughout Nevada.

The Vice President of Engineering and Operations directs the Engineering, Construction, Operations and Maintenance functions of the Cooperative's electrical system in such a manner as to assure modern design of electrical facilities that meet the highest standards of capacity and condition and which reflect the most efficient utilization of construction and operation methods, techniques and equipment.
Education/Experience: Requires a four year degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, business administration or business management. Master’s degree preferred. Additional specialized training in electric utility system design, operation and evaluation via seminars and special courses is also required. A minimum of 15 years of increasingly responsible experience in electric utility system design, construction, and operation is required, preferably with a consumer-owned or publicly held utility system. A minimum of 15 years’ experience in managing the work of others, and maintaining effective relationships, both within and outside the organization, is required.
Knowledge: Working understanding of ISO, RTO, WECC, FERC, and NERC. Thorough working knowledge of distribution system design, construction, operations and maintenance specifications and standards is required. A working knowledge of applicable codes, regulations and standards, both national and local, is also essential. Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and engineering-related information systems is desirable. Other preferred areas of knowledge include cost of service, retail rate design studies, job training and safety related areas.
