Position: The Social Work Department at Northern Michigan University invites applications for two faculty positions. NMU has been offering a continuously CSWE-accredited BSW degree program in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for over 40 years, and will offer its first MSW program to students starting Fall 2019. Applications will be considered for one tenure track position and one 1-year term position. Both positions are campus-based positions.
Duties and Responsibilities – Tenure Track position: Teach both graduate and undergraduate students across departmental programs, scholarship and service.
Duties and Responsibilities – One Year Term position: This position is a temporary, teaching faculty position that will support NMU’s long standing BSW program, and our newly adopted Master of Social Work Program.
Minimum Qualifications: Earned MSW from a CSWE accredited institution and a Ph.D. in social work or related field, plus two years post- MSW social work practice experience. ABDs will be considered. ABDs for the tenure track position must have Ph.D. within one year of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Knowledge and applied skills in (1) the generalist social work intervention model; (2) theories of human behavior in the social environment; (3) CSWE core competencies; (4) NASW Code of Ethics; and (5) social work research methods.
Additional Desirable Qualifications: Prior experience teaching at the University-level, especially in social work education.
