The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) and the Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology Laboratory (ARBL) seek to fill a tenure-track or tenured position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Preference will be given to candidates with a research program in the area of large animal reproduction. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an independent, extramural-funded research program and participate in the departmental teaching mission. Opportunities for collaboration exist with faculty in multiple basic science and engineering departments across campus including those associated with the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Core facilities available include Next Generation Sequencing and Genomics, Proteomics and Metabolomics Facility, Central Instrument Facility, and Microscopy Imaging Network. The primary expectation for this faculty member is that he/she will conduct and supervise basic and applied research related to large animal reproduction, which is the primary research emphasis within the ARBL and its equine reproduction program, the Equine Reproduction Laboratory (ERL). Successful applicants will be expected to sustain an extramurally funded research program in one of the primary ARBL research groups that focus on sperm, egg, and embryo development (SEED), healthy baby/healthy mother (HBHM), reproductive neuroendocrinology (RN) and translational reproductive biotechnology (TRB) using state-of-the-art technical and laboratory approaches. Demonstrable expertise in gene editing approaches such as CRISPR-Cas would be a strength. This person may study translational genomics as well as impact of nutrition, infection and/or aging on fertility and pregnancy outcomes. Leadership is expected in seeking and obtaining extramural funds and private donations for research and clinical activities and fostering a broader public awareness of the ARBL, BMS, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, College of Agricultural Sciences, and Colorado State University. The person hired into this position will be expected to contribute to undergraduate, graduate and/or DVM teaching. Effective mentoring and advising of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows is also expected. Teaching responsibilities will be in the general area of physiology, endocrinology or reproductive biology. BMS and ARBL engage in extensive service and outreach activities which the successful candidate could contribute to depending on interests. This is a 9-month appointment with a primary academic appointment in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. The appointment will be 55% Research, Scholarship & Creative Activity, 40% Instruction, Advising and Mentoring, and 5% Service. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent and postdoctoral experience in large animal reproduction.
Preference will be given to applicants with a strong publication record and evidence of competitiveness for independent national-level funding for research in large animal reproduction. Experience with teaching mammalian reproduction, endocrinology or physiology will be preferred.
