Responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting the SAS reporting and analytics environment, and serving as a hands-on data modeler, data analyst, report developer. Completes reports and summaries for management and users including data requests, data sets for State and Federal agencies, data sets and analyses for University administration and committees, project status reports, problem reports, and progress summaries. Supports department and campus executive leadership with data analysis, often in matters of high sensitivity and urgency.
Complex and multifaceted analysis and validation of data. Act independently as a technical lead on various data projects. Analyze, review, document and develop complex data structures to meet reporting needs for the University administration as well as for State and Federal agencies. Acquire, load, and merge data from various campus sources to produce required State and Federal reports. Be available to run processes during key data acquisition dates, make modifications to scripts and document scripts as data profile and requirements change. Work with end users or agencies to make sure that the systems developed meet the requirements of the processes. Meet with data owners to make sure reports generated by processes accurately reflect source data. Also work with data owners to find solutions to data quality issues and to monitor progress of changes. Assists Analytics Analysts I & II in data modeling and BI development. Consults with campus leaders on their data and reporting needs and translates their requirements into warehouse transformation logic. Performs other duties assigned.
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, Programming, Statistics or related discipline and 3-8 years in SQL programming. In-depth knowledge of data mining, querying, and modeling in SQL and/or SAS data environments. Ability to work well with people in all levels of the organization. Experience in a data analysis, data driven research and/or predictive analysis role is required. Ability to prepare and present reports and dashboards to diverse audiences is required. Displays attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and deliver high quality data reports to executive leadership. Ability to manage projects from the beginning to the end with minimal supervision. Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel), SharePoint. Excellent organization, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication (verbal and written) skills. Ability to communicate and collaborate with people at all levels of the organization or the equivalent experience.
Master's degree or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science and/or 5+ years in programming-focused field in higher education where PeopleSoft Campus Solutions is the student information system using SAS data platforms for data analysis and modeling. Strong SAS programming and SQL skills. Experience and/or certification in SAS Data Integration Studio, SAS Visual Analytics, Data Management Studio, SAS programming, SAS Enterprise Guide and Enterprise Miner. SAS Certification is a plus. Machine learning, R programming, predictive and /or statistical analytics, Java or Python knowledge are all a plus. Experience in submitting reports to State and Federal agencies, U.S. News Rankings, publishers and other higher education entities. Proven experience to independently produce and deliver data reports to executive leadership.
