Salary Range: ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT I ($15.00- $21.44 per hour) ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT II ($15.00 - $25.72 per hour) ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT COORDINATOR I ($16.42 - $28.84 per hour) ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT COORDINATOR II ($17.97 - $31.59 per hour)
The Emergency Clerical Pool is intended for qualified applicants to be called upon for temporary appointments, in any department, on an as-needed basis.
Should your application be reviewed, and you be selected for an interview, you will be contacted by the department. Depending on departmental needs, interviews may be conducted at any time while the Emergency Clerical Pool is open.
The hourly, emergency appointments vary in classification, salary, and length (not exceeding 90 days) and provide varying levels of general office, clerical, and secretarial support for students, faculty, and/or staff.
Minimum Qualifications (Staff Only):
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Completion of a high school program or its equivalent. Type 45 wpm.
LEVEL: ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT I One year of general office support experience. (Substitution of one year allowed)
LEVEL: ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT II Three years of general office support experience. (Substitution of two years allowed)
LEVEL: ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT COORDINATOR I Four years of general office support or technical experience. (Substitution of two years allowed)
LEVEL: ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT COORDINATOR II Five years of general office support or technical experience. (Substitution of two years allowed)
ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION: Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for the allowed years of the required experience on the basis of one year of college education for 6 months of experience
NEEDS WILL DIFFER DEPENDING ON ASSIGNMENT. DESIRED SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES MAY INCLUDE ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation
Working knowledge of standard office software packages including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, electronic mail and calendaring systems
Experience with web page development and maintenance
Excellent customer service skills
General knowledge of bookkeeping and fiscal management principles
Ability to operate standard office equipment
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relations and to interact effectively with a diverse population
Ability to quickly learn basic university infrastructure, policies and procedures
Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple work priorities and meet constant deadlines
Ability to accurately maintain electronic and paper files
Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations
Ability to appropriately handle confidential information
Ability to exercise tact, sound judgment, diplomacy, and discretion
Ability to exercise initiative, establish priorities, and meet deadlines
Ability to perform data entry for long periods with great accuracy and efficiency
Ability to operate a cash register
Ability to exercise sound judgment to effectively respond to general inquiries and analyze problems
Ability to collect and evaluate data
Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds

Retired CalPERS members selected for this vacancy must request and be approved for reinstatement from retirement prior to the start date.
