The UWMC Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Services Specialist Supervisor (Full-Time, Day Shifts) . With delegated authority, the Patient Services Specialist (PSS) Supervisor interviews, recommends selection of applicants, conducts training, assigns and schedules work, acts upon leave requests, conducts performance evaluations and recommends disciplinary actions. Under general direction, the PSS Supervisor also directs and performs the clerical and technical functions of assigned admitting, registration or patient care area(s).TYPICAL WORK
Interview applicants and make recommendations for hire;
Train and orient new employees and/or volunteers to department;
Assign employee schedules, establish plan for emergency staff coverage and act upon leave requests;
Review and correct the work performed by others for compliance with established procedures;
Conduct employee performance evaluations;
Recommend disciplinary actions;
Have high-level knowledge of the EPIC application;
Be an expert in EPIC functionality and templating;
Have knowledge of insurance verification process;
Reception and discharge activities;
Coordinate referral process and obtaining medical records as required.
Verify and update registration and insurance information;
Collect time of service payments;
Develop and maintain a fiscally responsible system for supply ordering, delivery, tracking and storage system;
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of provider and clinic schedules;
May work with management, ED/QA and other staff on process improvements, developing training courses and planning ED/QA activities for staff.
May Participate in monitoring quality assurance plans;
Perform the work of the Patient Services Specialist levels 1, 2, 3, Lead and QA/Educator positions.
