The Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for the position of Full Professor of History within the Division of Social Work, Behavioral and Political Sciences, starting the Fall 2019 semester. The qualified candidate will have the possibility of being tenured at the time of appointment. Tenured academics who are currently at the Associate Professor or Full Professor rank are particularly encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will have a highly distinguished scholarly record of publication (a substantial number of books, book chapters, peer-reviewed articles), a stellar record of teaching, and demonstrated excellence in intellectual and institutional leadership. Furthermore, the search is open to scholars who are well grounded in instructional innovations, have a proven record of service to their profession and community, and are able to demonstrate implacable commitment to undergraduate instruction. Equally desirable is the ability to secure grants from external sources.
Teaching sections of American History and of Texas History, as well as advanced-level courses in the candidate?s areas of specialization
Engaging actively in research and publication while seeking grants
Advising and mentoring students
Serving on Division, College and University committees
Required Education and Experience:
A Ph.D. In History, or a related field
A demonstrated ability to teach courses in Texas and Borderlands histories

Preferred qualifications include the ability to develop and teach online and hybrid courses, as well as a proven experience with assessment of program and student learning outcomes. At the same time, candidates that have a track-record of success aimed at mentoring junior faculty are strongly encouraged to apply.
