Job Summary/Basic Function: PRIMARYDAILYRESPONSIBILITY: Coordinate STAR Services program for conditionally admitted students through program development and outreach to connect students to academic support resources, workshops, presentations, and events designed to help them succeed at Lamar University.
GENERALDESCRIPTION: The STAR Services Coordinator is a full-time professional staff position who is responsible for continued development, planning, implementation, and assessment of programs designed to help provide outreach and support to students who are conditionally admitted to Lamar University.
This position reports to the Director of STAR (Student Tutoring and Retention) Services and interacts extensively with STAR Services staff, academic and student service departments, and faculty and staff across campus to provide comprehensive support for conditionally admitted undergraduate students.
Develop and coordinate program for students who are conditionally admitted
Work in conjunction with Student Support Specialists, STAR Services staff, college coaches, faculty, and staff to provide outreach and student support
Regularly monitor the academic progress, persistence, and retention of program participants
Utilize SSC Campus for communication and reporting
Plan and implement program events
Supervise student and professional staff
Market and promote program
Assess, evaluate. and grow program
Participate in professional development and student success research
Minimum Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university with at least two years documented successful experience in a student support program or related field in post secondary environment. This position requires knowledge of learning development theory best practices in student success, dedication to a collaborative work environment, the ability to work as a part of a team, high level organizational and interpersonal skills, superior oral/written communication skills, computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft applications, and demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Experiences preferred include at least three years working individually with college students; knowledge of university educational system and student retention programming.
