The Departments of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry in the School of Biological Sciences are currently accepting applications for a postdoctoral scholar in the area of the age-related metabolic basis of Alzheimer's disease. The person in the position will perform experiments with human brain samples and transgenic mice under the direction of Dr. Charles Glabe. This NIH-funded project examines structural polymorphisms of amyloid and their relationships to Alzheimer pathogenesis and phenotypic variation in disease. hippocampal changes with aging that affect Alzheimer's disease. This person also will work on the relationships between the levels of endogenous human antibodies against amyloid to the amyloid pathology observed in brain. The initial appointment will be full time, for a 24-month period. Renewal of the appointment will be contingent on the availability of adequate funding and performance.
