Position Summary: The Lionel Hampton School of Music invites applications for a 9-month, tenure track, Assistant Professor of Jazz Piano, which will begin August 2019. Responsibilities will include directing a jazz band, teaching jazz related courses (Improvisation & Rehearsal Techniques), coaching Jazz combos, advising students, and other duties as assigned based on the strengths of this candidate and departmental needs.
Doctorate in Music from an accredited institution. Record of success as a teacher of applied jazz piano. Record of success as a jazz ensemble director. Evidence of performance ability at a professional level.
Evidence of successful instruction at the collegiate level. Ability to teach other courses depending on candidates experience and needs of the department. Ability to interact effectively with colleagues. Record of success teaching other jazz courses.
