Job Summary The Neurotechnology Center is looking for a part-time technician to assist with various projects involving the design and construction of microscopes, electronic devices, and various small mechanical widgets for the Neuroscience community at Caltech.
Job Duties - Assist with PCB layout and assembly of electronic circuits - Machining various small objects for use in neuroscience research using: - Laser cutter - 3D printers - Waterjet cutter - CNC mill - Manual mill - Manual lathe - Assemble basic mechanical devices out of off-the-shelf and custom parts - Assist with maintenance of machines in the shop - Create and maintain Arduino code to control various electronic lab devices
Basic Qualifications - B.S. in Electrical Engineering - Familiarity with basic machining operations, including milling, turning, and CNC machine operation
Preferred Qualifications - Experience using CAD software such as Solidworks or Autodesk, and with programming in Arduino and Matlab and/or python - A keen interest in neuroscience and a willingness to learn on the job will greatly facilitate success in this position
