Involves a wide range of student services duties and responsibilities for an academic department / school / college or organization. Provides assistance to the dean / chair, faculty, and students in academic advising, recruitment, admissions, financial aid, the evaluation and awarding of fellowships and block grant funds, student orientation and events, career counseling, and related programs.
Using skills as a seasoned, experienced student services professional, provides the full range of student services within an organization such as an academic department, school, or college. Independently advises students and resolves student services-related issues on the full range of academic issues inherent within the organization. Advises faculty and management on a variety of student issues. Works with the department's / school's / college's management to recommend changes to policies, practices, and procedures. Guidance on issues requiring in-depth knowledge of specialized programs is provided by offices specializing in those fields, e.g., the financial aid office, graduate division, or student learning center, OR by the chair / dean and faculty of the department / school / college. May administer funds for student programs.
The Department of Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology, located in the Sinsheimer Science Building , is a dynamic group comprised of instructional and research units and a variety of support programs and facilities with staff committed to providing excellent service to students, faculty and researchers. The department consists of 27 faculty, approximately 50 researchers and several administrative and technical support staff. Departmental resources for operations and research are among the highest in the Division of Physical and Biological Sciences. The department has approximately 1000 declared and 1000 proposed undergraduate majors in 5 distinct programs and 84 graduate students working towards Ph.D. and Masters degrees. The department offers a significant number of courses (more than 75 laboratory, seminar and lecture courses with between 110-125 secondary sections and 5 graduate courses), many in support of other majors and programs.
In consultation with a faculty advisory committee, and under general direction of the Department Manager, the Health Sciences Internship Coordinator has primary responsibility for the maintenance of the education standards and effective functioning of the Health Sciences Internship Program.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
