Reporting to the Physics Department Manager, and under the general direction of the instructor of record for each lab, the incumbent will provide logistic and technical support to the lower and upper division laboratory sections in the physics department. Responsibilities include preparing and organizing materials and equipment, analyzing, testing and writing experimental procedures, and maintaining order and cleanliness in the laboratories. This position also maintains, troubleshoots and repairs the laboratory equipment and instruments in all Physics labs. The Physics Department offers 20 lower division lab sections as well as 15 upper division lab sections per year, serving 2700 students.

Excellent written and oral communication skills including demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students and engage them in productive dialog regarding technical issues.
Experience and analytical skills sufficient to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks to meet strict deadlines.
Knowledge of the general principles of physics as attained through coursework leading to a master's degree or equivalent experience in physics or related discipline, and a more specialized knowledge of the principles of modern experimental physics.
Demonstrated proficiency in the laboratory skills associated with introductory physics laboratories.
Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing repairs of laboratory equipment, and a theoretical and practical knowledge of modern physics laboratory instrumentation.
Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
