The Department of Neurology at the University of Washington and Seattle Children's Hospital is seeking an outstanding pediatric neurologist to join a growing Division of Pediatric Neurology. The successful candidate will have strong clinical skills in general pediatric neurology, clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy. This position includes appointment as Medical Co-Director of a Neurosciences and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. The responsibilities of this role will include (a) overseeing an Epilepsy inpatient service; (b) overseeing the admissions and management of patients in the EMU; (c) development of protocols for the management of patients admitted to the Neurosciences Unit. Members of the division are involved in clinical research in epilepsy and critical care neurology. Applicants with research interests in these areas are encouraged to apply. This is a full-time appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor ranks (job codes 10113 or 10112, without tenure for reasons due to funding), in the clinician-educator academic pathway. Candidates with exceptional qualifications may be considered for appointment at the rank of Professor (job code 10111, without tenure for reasons due to funding).
Requirements include MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree, eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Washington, and certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology with Special Qualifications in Child Neurology as well as in Clinical Neurophysiology and/or Epilepsy. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
