Mesa Water® District is seeking a seasoned and creative Public Affairs professional who is passionate about community outreach and education. Reporting to the Public Affairs Manager, the successful candidate will lead community outreach efforts through public information, event planning and participation, education tours and integrated marketing/communication campaigns. Candidates should have experience in: writing; content management; community engagement; customer support; industry relations; media relations; public education/outreach; internal communications; and, social media campaigns. This position will support the Public Affairs Manager as the District’s media liaison, and oversee/facilitate the development and implementation of internal/external communications and publications including regular content creation for Mesa Water’s website and newsletters. The ideal candidate will possess specialized knowledge of integrated marketing communications campaigns and a basic understanding of water use efficiency programs. This position requires advanced skills in verbal and written communication, collaboration, creativity, diplomacy, resourcefulness, and self-leadership. This position also requires incumbents to be available after business hours, nights, and weekends.
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in communications, public relations, journalism, English, or a related field.
Five or more years of consecutive and increasingly responsible experience in a communications, public relations or public information profession.
License or Certificate:
A valid California driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
