Assistant Professor - Experimental Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) Physics, Experimental Biophysics, or Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
The Physics Department at the University of California, Berkeley is conducting an open search to fill a tenure-track faculty position for an Assistant Professor in Experimental Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) Physics, Experimental Biophysics, or Experimental Condensed Matter Physics with an expected start date of July 1, 2019.
The basic qualification required to be considered an applicant is a PhD (or equivalent international degree) or enrollment in a PhD (or equivalent international degree) granting program at the time of application.
Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated originality and productivity in research, promise in teaching, and the potential to advance the physics department's goal of a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive scholarly environment.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a statement of research, a statement of teaching philosophy, and a statement of contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion (https://ofew.berkeley.edu/recruitment/contributions-diversity). A cover letter is optional. When completing the online application, applicants should be sure to select the appropriate area(s) of specialization. Applicants should arrange to have between three to five letters of reference submitted through the online application system and at least three of the letters should come from referees outside of the UC Berkeley system.
