Academic Faculty Search, UCSF Department of Medicine/Nephrology and the San Francisco VA Medical Center
The UCSF Department of Medicine is seeking two academic faculty in the Nephrology Section at the San Francisco VA Medical Center – a clinician and a physician/scientist.
The successful clinical applicant will be given an academic appointment in the UCSF Health Sciences Clinical or Clinical X series and will assume the role of Associate Chief Nephrology Section. The clinician will assume responsibilities for the management of the outpatient hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis programs and the inpatient acute RRT program. The faculty also will serve as an attending physician on the inpatient consult service and outpatient clinics, where they will provide direct and didactic teaching to UCSF students and trainees. Other responsibilities will include organization of clinic schedules, maintenance of performance standards, oversight of clinical performance, and quality improvement initiatives.
We also seek a physician/scientist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level who will meet the requirements for appointment in the UCSF In Residence academic series. The successful applicant will have an active and productive basic, translational or clinical research program with a strong record of extramural funding from the NIH, VHA, or equivalent organizations. While clinical attending duties on the inpatient and outpatient nephrology services are expected, the primary focus of this position will be on scholarly activity and development of a robust research portfolio.
