The University of California, Irvine (UCI), one of the nation's largest and most diverse public universities, is proud to announce the creation of a new strategic, collaborative fundraising position to support the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences: the Senior Director of Development.

Under the leadership of Dean Marios Papaefthymiou, the Donald Bren School of ICS has articulated a clear mission to lead the innovation of new information and computing technology by fundamental research in the core areas of information and computer sciences and cultivating authentic cutting-edge research collaborations across the broad range of computing and information application domains as well as studying their economic, commercial and social significance. The Senior Director will play a critical role in helping the Donald Bren School of ICS realize its goals through attracting increased levels of philanthropic support.
Senior Director of Development
Under the general direction of the Dean, and in collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Development of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, the Senior Director of Development will develop and oversee a yearly plan for private support related to the School's established needs and priorities, as determined by the respective Deans and in coordination with University Advancement.
The Senior Director will create and implement strategies for the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gifts, with an expected annual fundraising goal of $3+ million. The Senior Director will provide leadership, vision, and oversight to Donald Bren School development staff to support the development efforts of the school. In conjunction with the Assistant Dean for Development and the university's central advancement office, the Senior Director will also set strategy and lead the team to achieve the school's goals within UCI's upcoming multi-billion dollar comprehensive campaign.
The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who is able to conceptualize, design, and implement a development program as well as direct the design of strategies for cultivation and solicitation of donor prospects. In addition, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated success working in a complex environment serving multiple constituencies; and possess the energy and enthusiasm to promote the school's mission to a broad and diverse audience. The Senior Director must possess a broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising within a major research university, with a minimum of five years of successful fund-raising experience in the million dollar range, and experience in directing a complex development program. A knowledge of computer science and/or engineering is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have management experience in motivating professionals to conceptualize, design, and implement a complex development program within a major research university.
