The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension State 4-H Youth Development Program is seeking a full-time Coordinator, 4-H Camp Educational Program. The ideal candidate will be an innovative leader to create a comprehensive statewide 4-H Camping program. The central purpose of this position is to create a positive learning environment at the Nevada State 4-H Camp and other local camps across the state. The incumbent will join a network of campus-and community-based Extension faculty and staff who share this responsibility for community engagement. They will work as a member of the statewide team of the Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development program, affiliated with UNR’s College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources. This position reports to the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development Program Director. The major responsibilities of this position are to design, deliver, and evaluate outdoor science/environmental education and/or leadership camping programs that meets the needs and interests of the camps target populations in the county and/or state and ensure their delivery in a safe and quality manner. This position will also develop and secure extramural funds, gifts, grants, contracts and other funding sources in support of programs. In partnership with Nevada State 4-H Camp Facilities Manager, be responsible for achieving and maintaining American Camp Association accreditation.
Bachelor’s degree and three years of related work experience or a master’s degree and two years of related work experience. Related experience: working with volunteer and youth programs in a supervisory/lead capacity.
Experience working in Extension, preferably 4-H Youth Development, outdoor education, and/or camping programs.
