Under supervision, the incumbent will independently support the clinical research efforts of the Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Disorders Research Center and Positive Emotion and Anxiety Research Laboratory. Independently coordinates ongoing research studies by serving as the primary study contact for investigators, research staff and collaborators to provide detailed project updates and resolve problems.
Duties and responsibilities include independently performing the following: updating, maintaining, and coordinating several databases; conducting recruitment and screening of potential subjects; administering structured clinical interviews; administering experimental protocols involving the collection of symptom, behavioral, and magnetic resonance imaging data; participating in preparing summaries for institutional review board and funding agency progress reports; recruiting, training, and supervising research assistant student interns on study procedures; Performs other duties as needed.
Theoretical knowledge of psychiatry, psychology, or related field as typically attained by a Bachelor's Degree.
Strong computer skills (word-processing, databases, SPSS syntax) and ability to maintain and update databases for several projects and ongoing research; ability to enter, update, and verify subject and experimental data, and write SPSS syntax to process data.
Demonstrated experience administering structured psychiatric diagnostic interviews to adults with anxiety or depressive disorders.
Demonstrated experience creating, maintaining and updating databases for several projects and providing recruitment data information for IRB and grant agency submissions.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills with research participants, investigators and research assistants.
Demonstrated experience with participant recruitment, screening, and scheduling for clinical trial research studies.
Demonstrated experience setting up and following human subject research protocols and standardized operating procedures.
Proven knowledge of the Positive Emotion and Anxiety Research Laboratory and Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Disorder Research Program; familiar with the ongoing research studies (Novel Behavioral Intervention to Target Social Reward Sensitivity and Attachment).
Demonstrated experience administering computerized and behavioral assessments to subjects with anxiety or depressive disorders, including the relationship development task and impromptu speech task.
Experience training and supervising volunteer research assistants in administering the study procedures for Novel Behavioral Intervention to Target Social Reward Sensitivity and Attachment.
Demonstrated experience administering behavioral tasks used during MRI sessions, including the Social and Monetary Incentive Delay tasks.
Demonstrated experience conducting MRI studies.
Proven ability to safely collect and ship laboratory specimens from all lab site operations as well as maintain necessary supplies.
Demonstrated knowledge of UCSD Human Research Protections Program policies and procedures.
Completion of UCSD Keck Center for functional MRI Safety Training and Scan Operator Certification.
Demonstrated experience disbursing, reconciling, and order UCSD scrip and petty cash.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Must be physically able to be present in the MRI scan area to assist in preparing subjects for scan procedures; therefore, individuals who have metal devices or cardiac pacemakers in their bodies or any other contraindication for MRI are excluded from consideration for this position.
