Post Doctoral Scholar

The postdoctoral fellow will help translate novel fluorescent contrast agents for macroscopic and microscopic imaging to clinical use. Will also help develop and optimize a library of nerve-specific fluorescent contrast agents for image-guided surgery based on the oxazine fluorophore scaffold. The goal of this work will be to create formulations and staining protocols that will enable clinical translation of the most promising nerve-specific contrast agents with red shifted excitation and emission wavelengths. The postdoctoral fellow will collaborate closely with Dr. Adam Alani\u2019s laboratory on the development of clinically relevant formulation strategies as well as collaborate closely with Intuitive Surgical to facilitate testing of the most promising nerve-specific contrast agents and formulation strategies in large animal models. Responsibilities include: 

• Macroscopic imaging of nerve-specific contrast in rodent models
• Testing of novel formulation strategies in rodent models
• Macroscopic imaging of nerve-specific contrast in large animal models
• Testing of novel formulation strategies in large animal models
• Quantify imaging data
• Significant interaction in collaborative projects with teams composed of biologists, chemists, clinicians, physicists, engineers, and industrial partners
• Some weekend and evening work will be required for certain experiments
