Collaborating with the Director of Development, the Head of School, the Development and Campaign Committees, and the Board, the Senior Manager of Development will lead by doing as well as manage and support employee staff, volunteers, partners, and vendors with a particular focus on partnering with colleagues and community leaders to lead, manage, and support the annual fund and annual auction.
The Senior Manager’s responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
Lead, manage, and support staff and volunteer leaders to ensure timely and successful execution of the annual fund.
Lead, manage, and support staff and volunteer leaders, partners, and vendors to execute the annual auction event.
Lead, manage, and support staff and volunteer leaders in coordination with the Admissions department to ensure timely and successful onboarding of new families.
Collaborate with alumni relations, database, communications, the business office, technology, and registrar to maintain and manage data resources, research, gift accounting and acknowledgment, pledge collections, and creation of financial and other records that support the department’s initiatives.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all school and department initiatives to make the best decisions for department and donors.
Support Director of Development with capital campaign events, materials and/or other needs as they emerge.
Help manage the development office budget relative to annual fund and annual auction with the Director of Development and the business office.
Bachelor degree required.
At least five to ten years of postgraduate development or comparable relevant experience.
A track record of fundraising success, including in annual fund and annual auction.
Vision, creativity, flexibility, and the capacity to execute the school’s and department’s strategic plan.
Understanding of independent school communities and culture, preferably in a PreK–12 environment.
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Experience leading and engaging all stakeholders — trustees, colleagues, parents, students, alumni, other donors, partners, and volunteers.
Actively engaged in professional development and current on best practices.
Personable, positive, helpful personality with a can do attitude; customer service mindset.
Sensitivity, discretion, and a sense of humor.
Maturity, excellent judgment, and emotional stability.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
