Actively recruits students by phone, electronic communication, student appointment, and by advocacy throughout the admission and scholarship process to reach transfer enrollment goals.
Meets with and interviews prospective transfer and post-baccalaureate students on and off the SPU campus with the purpose of assessing their admissibility and fit for the university as well as communicating our distinctive qualities.
Cultivates prospective students in assigned travel areas. Travels to assigned areas visiting community colleges, church and para-church organizations, college fairs, and individual families.
Identifies groups of students who will best fit SPU's mission and admissions requirements.
Assists in the University's commitment to enroll greater numbers of ethnically diverse students.
Maintains awareness of how students are moving through the admissions cycle from initial contact to enrollment. Works to improve efficiencies of this cycle and the experience of prospective students.
Effectively communicates accurate information about university policy, all academic programs, co-curricular activities, athletics, fine and performing arts, and other aspects of university life to both transfer and freshmen students.
Reviews and recommends transfer applications on a rolling basis. Evaluates applications and transcripts with special attention to types of classes taken, credits accomplished, major interest, and fit to the university. Effectively communicates with academic departments to assess fit for major.
Develops and maintains relationships with community college counselors, church and para-church leaders, Phi Theta Kappa members, alumni, and others who may assist in the recruiting of transfer students.
Develops relationships with students and community leaders of ethnically diverse backgrounds through culturally responsive conversations and outreach events.
Collaborates with Student Academic Counselors for transcript evaluation and articulation.
Participates in the application review of prospective nursing students.
Participates in the planning and implementation of campus events as assigned by the Assistant Director of Visits and Events and Visit and Event Coordinator. These events include, but are not limited to Previews, Falcon Fridays, Summer Visit Days, Transfer Events, and may require evening and weekend work.
Performs other related duties as assigned and participates as an active member on the Admissions team.
Recent experience with college age students, experience or interest in marketing, computer application and system experience, direct experience with SPU.
Valid Driver's License, ability to drive to off campus recruiting events.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Presentation and public speaking experience. Ability to inspire and motivate people when communicating with them.
Professional presence and appearance.
Understanding of, commitment to, and ability to articulate SPU mission.
Flexibility to respond to changing market environment by quickly developing new marketing strategies as needed.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to work with students in potentially volatile situations regarding student admission and financial aid issues.
Project management skills.
Flexibility needed to adapt work hours to peaks and valleys of the admissions calendar (including evenings and weekends).
Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
Experience with C.R.M. and experience with Banner a plus.
Degree in marketing, public relations, communication or other related field, a plus.
Direct work with college students, specifically transfer students, a plus.
Additional Salary Information: $42,000 - $45,000 annually
This is a full time, exempt position with full benefits. Benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, retirement plan, and tuition benefit program. Given the amount of travelling required, this position will also include an annual car allowance.
