The Events Manager directly supports the production of events at the University Center and at various locations around UTA. This position directly oversees the planning and execution of production information for events, including sound, lighting, and video. Provides general support to the operation of the University Center. The Events Manager works closely with internal and external clients and manages multiple projects concurrently with great attention to detail.
Manage and maintain a staff of 45-50 students who work to complete the setups and changes for all events in the University Center and surrounding areas.
Professional entertainment event oversight, including monitoring load-in, production setup, and teardown.
Coordinate event setup by confirming that room setups are completed to customer requests, providing customer service in the building, accommodating last minute requests or altering the setup of a room to better suit the customer’s need. Create custom event notes detailing customer needs and requirements for student staff to use during setup and while running events.
In cooperation with other managers and event coordinators, analyzes facility operation and identifies technical requirements for event success.
Meet with clients or other university departments to discuss any needs for their events.
Establishes candidate pools, interviews, hires and trains personnel in lighting, sound, and other positions. Schedules and supervises technician and event crews, as appropriate for the event requirements.
Off-site Events – oversee the setup and the successful completion of events that occur outside of the University Center and ensure the return of all assets from the event. Fulfill similar functions for in-building events.
Other Duties as Assigned
Bachelor Degree and 2 years of experience OR High School Graduate and 6 years' experience in a multi-purpose public assembly facility or in automated systems operations, event operations, event production, project operations, or other relevant field. Extensive experience with Audio/Visual Equipment.
Extensive experience in overseeing technical event setups. Capacity to work both independently and in a team environment. Proven time management skills including the ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize. Aptitude in proactive and creative problem-solving. Ability to develop positive working relationships with University colleagues and external constituents to facilitate the event planning process. Strong computer skills
