The Switchboard Operator, under supervision, handles incoming calls and requests for information from various sources and routes calls to proper destinations. Responds to inquiries promptly and completely.
Answer all incoming calls to the university switchboard and provide pertinent information to the caller or transfer the call to the appropriate area if requested.
Use technology to record, transcribe and communicate information to internal and external customers.
Provide exceptional, courteous customer service by answering and responding to the caller in an efficient, professional manner, utilizing all applicable call quality guidelines.
Relay voicemails and other messages to the proper location within the organization, which may entail writing down the number of the person who called and providing it to the individual.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma.
No prior experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
