Summary: Performs medical evaluations of patients presenting to the ED/Clinic and inpatient to include neglect, physical and sexual abuse examinations. Serves as a liaison to Child Protective Services, multidisciplinary agencies and law enforcement in medico-legal related care. Functions in collaborative practice with physician(s) in various clinical settings. Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols.
Qualifications: Graduate of an approved accredited school of nursing; Masters of Science in Nursing required. Minimum two years pediatric nursing experience in direct patient care, preferred in emergency or acute care setting. Current Texas professional registered nurse (RN) license. Current Texas professional advance practice registered nurse (APRN) license.Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner required. Current certification in Basic Life Support required. Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support required.
