Occasional travel to other sites to meet the needs of the clinic may be required.
Provides direct patient care. May perform a variety of clinical tasks as directed by an authorized health care provider. May assist with front office duties and scheduling of tests and/or patient appointments. Responsible for accurate chart documentation and medical record maintenance. Attends/conducts in-service presentations and seminars to facilitate personal and professional growth.
Minimum Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum Experience Requirements
One year of professional patient care experience in a clinical setting.
Current MA Certification from an accredited program or current LPN License from an accredited school of nursing.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association.
Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an * )
Takes part in Quality Assurance activities and performs other duties as requested. Complies with established department policies, procedures and standards which include, but are not limited to the following: safety, infection control, use of information systems and confidentiality guidelines. *
Greets patients and escorts them to exam room. Screens patients for appropriate information and records in chart. *
Takes vital signs, draws blood, obtains urine specimens and performs all clinic diagnostic procedures as ordered/needed in accordance with Centura Health clinical policy for quality patient care. Instruct patients in collection of samples and tests. *
Assists physicians with physical exams and other procedures as specified by provider. Conducts phlebotomy, venopuncture, EKG's, pulmonary function tests, ear irrigation; administers shots, and assists doctor with minor surgical procedures. Calls in doctor-approved prescriptions to pharmacies. *
Makes patient appointments for ancillary tests, referrals to specialists, hospital admissions, etc., as needed.
Use computer systems to retrieve reports, assure that physician's review reports and attach/file in patient charts in accordance with policies. Answers and properly routes phone calls. Coordinates requests for medication refills for patients. Works with physicians, pharmacies, and perform necessary chart work in accordance with departmental policies. *
Maintains inventory and orders clinical and clerical supplies. Stock and maintain exam rooms to daily par levels and per JCAHO standards. Maintains drug closet and supplies to daily par levels all in accordance with department budget and manager approval. *
Assists with patient education. Responds to and refers phone calls. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. *
