The Hospitalist RN is a clinical position that is an integral member of the hospitalist team. The RN takes the lead in coordinating the continuum of care for a sub-section of hospitalist team patients, focusing on patients with more complex discharge needs or those requiring coordination of multiple services during their hospitalization. The RN works closely and collaboratively with the hospitalists, as well as nursing, Case Management and administrative staff of the hospital. This position does not involve direct patient care, though it does require in-depth knowledge of acute inpatient care, patient
care paths, standards of care, patient flow, core measures, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and accessing hospital and community resources.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
Minimum Experience Requirements:
3 years of inpatient, med-surg nursing experience
2 years experience in a critical care setting (ICU, CCU or ER combined with inpatient med-surg experience)
Experience with electronic medical records system
Knowledge in care guidelines, protocols and pathways
Knowledge of patient flow and continuous quality improvement
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in the English language
Proficient in standard computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite
Internal and external client service orientation
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Colorado
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
Current CEN or CCRN certification, preferred
Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs constantly.
