Job Posting: Innovative research at Cedars-Sinai has made it possible for people who are highly sensitized (have high antibodies to transplant targets) to successfully receive kidney transplants. Other research being done at Cedars-Sinai is helping to break down barriers of blood and tissue incompatibility. In 1999, Cedars-Sinai received United Network for Organ Sharing certification for pancreas transplantation. Cedars-Sinai is one of a select few medical centers in Southern California performing kidney-pancreas transplants. Pancreas transplantation is used to prevent or reverse secondary complications of diabetes. The treatment is reserved for patients who are undergoing kidney transplantation and are also Type 1 Diabetic. Diabetic patients who have already undergone kidney transplantation are also candidates. Summary of Essential Job Duties: Responsible for the planning and coordination of all aspects of work up and care for Pre and Post Kidney Transplant patients throughout the continuation of services — from initial referral to follow up care. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible and accountable for the application of the nursing process, supervision of clinical practice, research involvement, consultative services, inter and intra-departmental liaison, education, leadership and patient care management across the health care continuum from preventative and acute care through discharge in addition to outpatient management. The NP serves as a patient advocate throughout the care process. and represents the medical center at regional and national meetings/conferences.
Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements: Master's of Nursing or DNP Degree Required License/Certification/Registration Requirements: Current State of California Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program approved by the Board of Registered Nursing as defined in Section 1482, Nurse Practice Act, Business and Professional Code. National Certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner Experience: Minimum of 2 (two) years acute hospital experience.
