Recommendations: Position Summary: Works under the supervision of the associate director to provide social and academic support to students outside of scheduled classroom and excursion activities. This is a part-time temporary staff position. Must be available on weekends. The range of dates for work are approximately June through August.
Responsibilities Essential Functions: 1. Establish clear and consistent patterns of contact and communication with assigned students. 2. Work with students and teachers to plan and carry out afternoon and weekend activities on campus and in the community, reflecting students' interests and needs. 3. Manage a group activities budget, including maintaining appropriate records 4. Identify and promote opportunities for program participants to experience US culture interactively. 5. Participate in orientation, social activities, and program closing. 6. Assist in planning, preparing, and wrap-up of various hospitality-related events. 7. Report issues as needed to the associate director
General Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education: Relevant Bachelor's degree or bachelor's degree in progress.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of principles of intercultural competence is preferred.
Experience: One to two years of relevant work experience; one year of experience working with international students is preferred.
Physical Demands: The Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey maintains a smoke-free workplace and complies with the Federal Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act and Drug-Free Workplace Act. Position requires light to moderate physical effort and the ability to work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time. Must have valid driver's license.
