In collaboration with other management personnel in the laboratory matrix structure, provide data and project support for Centura Laboratory Services to aid in the quality management and development of processes, laboratory strategy, balanced scorecards and other performance metrics, safety program, student programs, and associate education. Work with teams to design and implement quality tools, including databases other IT solutions. Provide a high level of leadership knowledge and application of that knowledge to laboratory and clinical relevance. Function in a self-directed manner, exhibit effective communication and advanced problem solving skills.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
B.S. or B.A. in Medical Technology or one of the biological, physical or chemical sciences, health care administration or equivalent area pertaining to the laboratory
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
5 years laboratory experience or 5 years integrated healthcare experience, including 3 years hospital supervision and management.
Flexibility to work variable hours and ability to travel
Experience with managing complex programs with accountability for measured outcomes, desirable
MLS with ASCP certification, or MT/MLT with ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification desirable
Certified Project Manager desirable
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt or other Process Improvement Training desirable
Advanced Degree and CPHQ desirable
Position Duties (Essential Functions)
■ Ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, and guidelines of CLIA, CAP, TJC, Medicare, etc.*
■ Maintain a high level of proficiency and current knowledge of trends in methodology, technology, and ways to deliver service in regards to laboratory medicine.*
■ Develop appropriate performance, quality and operational reports for Centura Laboratory Services, Hospital Administration and others.*
■ Lead teams to achieve set objectives.*
■ Ability to interact effectively with clinical leadership.*
■ Develop and operationalize policies and procedures.*
■ In conjunction with Quality Director and laboratory leadership, develop and maintain a set of balanced scorecard metrics.*
■ Work collaboratively with Laboratory Quality Director to develop and maintain an efficient and effective tracking mechanism for error management.*
■ Manage monitoring mechanism to ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory requirements.*
■ Maintain a high level of proficiency, understanding and in-depth working knowledge of the lab LIS, HIS and quality management applications from a user and optimization standpoint.*
■ Maintain a high level of proficiency and understanding of the accuracy and source of data that enters the LIS and HIS (both electronic and manual entry) as it relates to the delivery of laboratory services.*
■ Work directly with IT to improve processes and system changes.*
■ Maintain a high level of proficiency and current knowledge of trends in methodology, technology and delivery of laboratory services.*
■ Understand and communicate a technical strategy to align with Centura Laboratory Services strategic plan and Centura hospital goals and objectives.*
■ Evaluate and implement new methodologies and procedures. *
■ Develop, maintain and manage a set of scorecard metrics on quality performance.*
■ Conduct on-going assessments in conjuction with Medical Director, Service Line Director, Quality Director, Technical Director, Best Practice Teams and Laboratory Site Directors of processes to ensure that Centura provides optimal service for patient care.*
■ Understand and use tools available to manage financial performance of Centura Laboratory Services.*
■ Advise laboratory leadership of any changes needed in annual budgets.*
■ Assist leadership in developing and implementing action plans on any unfavorable spending trends.*
■ Optimize processes for inventory management mechanisms including contract compliance.*
■ Represent Centura Laboratory Services in hospital and medical staff committee meetings as required.*
■ Consult with medical, nursing and administrative staff on a regular basis to coordinate and improve patient care as required.*
■ Handle and resolve customer complaints in a timely manner.*
■ Ensure integration of quality improvement initiatives with that of the hospital.*
■ Establish and maintain productive working relationships with other lab system leaders, lab directors, hospital divisions and medical staff.*
■ Develop and provide in-service training as needed and requested by various departments.*
Sedentary Work - prolonged periods of sitting and exert/lift up to 10 lbs. force occasionally.
