The Academic Advisor II is responsible for advising undergraduate students concerning their career goals and academic requirements; providing information on and referring students to University resources that can assist in meeting student s needs and solving problems; supervising and participating in assigned projects and programs.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years experience in advising, recruiting, teaching, coaching, Student Affairs or other related area or Master s degree or above with no experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge about higher education academic systems.
Ability to multi-task, be attentive to detailed work, and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master s degree.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of TAMU curriculums and rules related to academic advising.
Provides academic advisement to undergraduate students and specific program populations. Advises and refers students with their choice of major, choice of career, course planning and education goals. Advises students on academic probation terms and rules. Refers students to university resources and responds appropriately to inquiries from students, parents and university staff and faculty.
Processes university academic and other official documents. Maintains appropriate advising records, notes, and statistics. Maintains current knowledge of Student Rules, college curriculum and rules, and advising policies & procedures. Utilizes databases to generate various letters to notify students of their academic status.
Other duties as assigned.
