Job Posting: The Svendsen Laboratory at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Regenerative Medicine Institute is looking for personnel to join our dynamic group. The incumbent should have an interest in the basic science of stem cells and neurodegenerative diseases. Working with the PI and scientists, the Research Associate II performs a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research. Assists in general laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies. Files and monitors documents. Keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments and results. Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery. Observes safety standards and procedures. This position may include supervisory responsibilities. Daily Duties will include the following: - Performs a variety of routine laboratory tasks and procedures. - Keeps accurate and detailed project records of experiments and results. - Maintains lab equipment and related records. - Transports, processes and logs samples. - Maintains computer database with relevant clinical information. - Performs lab maintenance duties, including glassware cleaning and sterilization. - Maintains stocks of general lab materials, and places orders for lab equipment and supplies. - Assists new students and fellows at the laboratory. - Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery. - Observes and complies with safety standards and procedures. -Histology and Microscopy -Sectioning of tissue specimens -Staining of tissue specimens to include special stains and IHC Additional Information: Scheduling flexibility including evening, weekend and holiday rotation commitment is required. Travel may be required.
Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements: BS or BA, or Master's Degree (preferred) in a Biological Sciences or related field. Experience: Two (2) years of laboratory experience. Understanding of general research objectives. Familiar with routine laboratory procedures, experimental protocols; and overall lab organization. Applicant must be highly motivated and able to work independently. Must have superior interpersonal, communication and organization skills and the ability to work across company disciplines and functional units, and computer application experience. Must possess computer skills to include, but not limited to, Excel. PowerPoint, and Word. Ability to simultaneously manage multiple clerical trials, and attention to details. Experience with cell culture and animal work is required; experience with histology preferred. Familiarity with microscopy, immunohistochemistry and Western blotting preferred. The applicant should be able to work with human tissue (stem cells), to work on weekends and work with small or large animals.
