The University of California, San Francisco is seeking an outstanding Research Scientist candidates for positions in a new Center for Functional Genomics.
Successful applicants will be proficient in any area of quantitative research, broadly defined. We are interested in candidates who develop and employ quantitative methods to understand complex biological systems and have an interest in human gene function. The candidate will develop an independent research program and work synergistically within a research team focusing on the study of genetics and drug targets. The Research Scientist series is used for appointees who engage in independent research equivalent to that required for the Professor series.
Candidate must have a doctorate or its equivalent. Although there is a preference for junior candidates, applicants at all levels including full ranks are encouraged to apply. The initial appointment will be for six years. This position is ideal for scientists who wish to develop a cutting-edge independent research program with exceptional impact in the academic environment yet not need to apply for extramural funds. Although candidates with strong commitments to research and teaching excellence are encouraged to apply, there are no formal didactic teaching responsibilities in this posted position. The successful candidate is expected to oversee a small team of 4-6 trainees and work within a network of other labs focusing on Functional Genomics.
