Position Summary: Under supervision, the Laboratory Assistant I will assist the Farm Advisor with data collection for field research trials.

Special Conditions of Employment: Travel outside of normal business hours
Other Special Conditions of Employment: Must possess a valid Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle. Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required.

Duty 1: Assist advisor and SRA in developing, establishing and conducting an orchard that examines multiple interactions including rootstock, pruning/training system, cultivar, and irrigation type. Duties will include tissue sampling, summer and dormant pruning, irrigation scheduling and irrigation system maintenance. Function:Irrigation/Pruning Percent: 60
Duty 2: Monitor fruit growth and development; collect harvest data including fruit quality component analysis. Function:Data Entry & Compilation Percent: 20
Duty 3: Data collection and analysis including maintaining spreadsheets and simple statistical procedures. Function:Statistical Data Procedures Percent: 20
Job Requirements Ability to assist with general lab and field work.
Experience or interest in data collection and data entry.
Ability to communicate results to supervisor and other staff members, as required. Required
Ability to focus on accurately reading digital readouts and to use simple equipment after training. Preferred
