The Clinical Research Coordinator assists with the clinical research and programmatic efforts of the Center for Personalized Cancer Therapy in the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center. The CRC orders molecular testing, ships biological specimens and coordinates an observational research study. Assists with all aspects of research protocol management, including screening for patient eligibility, data collection and analysis, ensuring protocol and regulatory compliance, laboratory and specimen submission, and maintenance of accurate and complete clinical and patient research files. Assists with Human subjects submissions. Assists with event and meeting coordination.
Theoretical background in clinical and social sciences, biology, microbiology or related field. Knowledge of clinical trials research.
Experience with research protocol (in order to follow protocols to screen patients for eligibility, initiate treatment plan, collect specimens, and orient participating physicians).
Knowledge of laboratory procedures and values and experience in interpreting them to determine patient eligibility and potential toxicities.
Ability to use statistical software applications. Knowledge of database, word processing and spreadsheet applications. Strong experience working with Excel in order to create reports.
Ability to assist with meeting preparation and coordinating development of reports for presentation. Experience maintaining files and keeping records.
Excellent interpersonal, as well as written and verbal communication skills (using grammatically correct written English and accurate typing) to interact with a diverse population. Excellent phone etiquette skills.
Excellent planning and organizational skills and ability to work in a changing, multiple-demand setting in order to prioritize a large volume of work and meet deadlines efficiently and accurately.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge of x-rays, scans, and other diagnostic procedures.
Experience performing clinical research duties in a clinical research environment.
Skill at interpreting medical charts and experience in abstracting data from medical records.
Experience handling biological specimens.

Must be able to travel to different locations (including North County San Diego and other locations) and work weekends and evenings as needed.
