The Research Data Assistant works on multiple research projects in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Dysmorphology and Teratology focused on identifying environmental causes of birth defects. Under direction of the Manager, the Research Data Assistant is responsible for various administrative and data quality assessment tasks related to the overall project administration. Responsibilities include tracking medical record receipt status, requesting medical records, communicating with participants and health-care professionals, and general administrative duties.
Demonstrated experience in working with medical terminology, pharmaceutical and birth defect terminology, and or theoretical knowledge of biology, chemistry, and/or embryology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to handle a large volume of medical records and/or medical record release forms and photocopying / scanning.
Demonstrated organizational and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to work efficiently, follow direction, document accurately, and pay close attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively both in person and over the telephone.
Demonstrated professionalism and interpersonal skills in working with staff and outside study personnel at various levels of responsibility.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all requirements/IRB guidelines in regards to PIH.
Previous experience requesting medical records in a healthcare setting.
