- Perform active/passive surveillance to determine status of HAI or other risk factors for infection. -Perform chart abstraction, data entry and analysis using NHSN. -Acts as a consultant by providing evidenced based guidance aimed at identifying risk factors for and reducing HAIs. -Provide expertise when participating or conducting environmental rounds. -Acts as an educator and mentor to support best practices related to infection prevention. -Actively participates on committees and work groups. -Maintains flexibility with schedule, carry pager and wear Vocera. -Establishes work priorities and meets deadlines. -Establishes professional goals and participates in mandatory and continuing education. -Seeks consultation for knowledge and skills outside the range of confidence or competence.REQUIRED - Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. - Possession of current California RN license. - CPR Certification. - External candidate: BSN required. Per Diem to Career: BSN required or in progress. -Minimum 2 years' recent experience working in Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology PREFERRED - Master's degree in Nursing. - Experienced in performing surveillance and applying NHSN criteria - Certified in Infection Control (CIC) preferred or certification eligible. - Must obtain CIC certification within 2 years of hire.
