UW-IT's Information Management (IM) division provides university-wide leadership in the development and management of UW's major administrative business systems including Finance, Human Resources/Payroll (HR/P), Advancement, and Facilities. IM is also responsible for UW Enterprise Data Warehouse and business intelligence tools that provide information for decision-making. The division is in charge of several other key campus wide initiatives, such as metadata management, data integration and enterprise information architecture, and is building out and supporting Enterprise Information Management frameworks (i.e. workflow, document imaging, data warehousing, etc.) that support administrative systems and business processes.
UW-IT's Information Management has an outstanding opportunity for a Associate Vice President (AVP).
The Associate Vice President (AVP) for Information Management reports to the Vice-President for UW-IT and CIO, and is responsible for leading the strategy, development, implementation, and coordination of enterprise information systems at the University of Washington. Upcoming major initiatives include installation of a new Finance Information System, continued build-out of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, and continued modernization of information architecture and systems. Advanced data governance, data integration and a cohesive enterprise architecture strategy are foundational to the success of these large-scale systems. With an emphasis on operational excellence, the AVP will provide the leadership, management, and change-management expertise required to ensure that the UW has the necessary policies, processes and practices to optimize the University's enterprise systems and to realize the full potential of ongoing investments in modern information management systems and services that benefit the UW's faculty, students, and staff.
The AVP will be responsible for providing information for decision-making accessible easily and quickly, advancing a culture of data-driven decision-making at UW. Based on an enhanced engagement with leaders and senior staff in the business functions served by these systems, the AVP will lead a team of information systems development professionals, architects and strategists in planning and implementing an integrated portfolio of secure, reliable, innovative, and modern software solutions to support institutional business processes.
The AVP will be responsible for campus-wide coordination and strategic planning for administrative business applications, and will oversee the development, maintenance, and production support of centrally operated mission-critical systems. Working in close collaboration with the Vice President for UW-IT and CIO, s/he will provide leadership and vision for campus information systems, develop the business case for investing in them, maintain responsive and accountable services, and manage a budget model that draws on operating funds, recharge revenue, and capital to promote sustainable long-term excellence.
UW is currently completing the stabilization of a recent HR/payroll implementation and is now moving forward with an effort to replace and upgrade its aging finance business systems. IM currently partners with the Integrated Service Center on the HR/P Modernization stabilization, and provides support for HRP integrations. In the future, IM will partner with staff developing and implementing the new enterprise finance system. A modern finance system will improve support for critical financial functions, provide better integration throughout the enterprise, strengthen financial compliance and provide better information for reporting, analysis and decision making.
BA in Computer Science, engineering or mathematics or relevant field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the following:

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Graduate degree is desirable.
Experience working in a research university or educational setting.
Experience in the coordination and implementation of enterprise business applications - Preferably Oracle/Peoplesoft and/or Workday.
